Weintzy & I just got done playing MASH

Remember back in grade school (or college) when you'd play MASH to determine who you'd marry, what kind of car you'd drive, how many kids you'd have and what type of house you'd live in?

Well, Weintzy and I just got done playing MASH - the cyclist version.

Here were my results:

This is the bike I'd be riding. It's Columbia HTC's Scott Addict. Not the first on my list, but I'll take it.

Once I was all fitted on my new ride. I would wait outside the bike shop for my cycling partner for the day, Fabian Cancellara.

Once "Spartacus" arrived and complimented me on the definition of my calves, we would head directly to the destination of that day's ride: Lake Cuomo.

After doing a hundred or so miles around the lake, Fabian gets tired, so we head to the local eatery for some of my favorite food items. EVER.

After lunch, Fabian and I exchange phone numbers, he gives me his bike and we say good-bye. I then head back to my hotel, shower and clean up for my night out on the town with...

wait for it......

Good times!!!

Hoover Dam Half

Proudly wore my Chasqui running shirt today at the Hoover Dam Marathon and Half. 2:16. Frightening hills, killer switch backs, hate running on dirt trails, great views, my big toe hurts, still no desire to run a full, love half marathons. See you at the Turkey Trot!

Ragnar LV Race Report - Nick

Leg 2: 3.8 (Easy) . . . Ironically, despite labeled “easy” I felt like this was my hardest run of the entire race. I started just before noon so the sun was shining bright and it was warm. I went out too fast, exactly opposite of my intended game plan. The result was okay, averaged an 8:10 mile but could have been faster since the leg was so flat.

Leg 14: 4.8 (Moderate) . . . Best run of my Chasqui experience. It was cool out and the leg had some rollers but nothing significant. My leg started around 9:00 p.m., which was perfect because 9:00 p.m. is when I usually run so my body was ready to go. It was my understanding that a rival team was in our crosshairs and after leg 13, the rival team was only about 30 to 45 seconds in front of our team. It was my goal to catch and pass them. After about ½ a mile, I caught and passed the rival team. He must have known what team I was running with after seeing the back of my jersey. He must have realized the significance of being passed by a Chasqui because he started to pace me. For the next 4.3 miles he was almost literally in my hip pocket. I felt like I was back in a high school CC meet. I tried to shake him by surging several different times but the dude stuck with me.

Periodically I’d look behind me and see him right there. Usually I can’t even hear myself breathing through the noise of AC/DC pumping through my Ipod but I knew he was hurting because I could hear him breathing over my music. This was encouraging because he sounded like he was hurting. However, as I started to run up the last hill my legs felt like they were full of cement. I started to doubt my ability to beat this guy. I thought maybe he was just playing with me and was going to breeze past me at the last second. That’s when I realized I did not hear any breathing . . . I glanced back . . . no one there . . . victory was mine! Suddenly my legs were light. I crested the hill passed the baton. It was a good run. Averaged 8:03 mile.

Leg 26: 3.3 (Moderate). Wow, running in the morning is tough, especially with little to no sleep. This run was one of the most mentally challenging. My headphones broke, so I ran with no tunes. I also was not feeling so well in the bowel department. ‘Nuff said. Glad I made it through. Averaged 9:01 mile.

Overall it was an awesome 25 hours and van 1 rocked out the entire time. I can’t say enough about the comradery Team Chasqui shares. I love being a part of it. I’m looking forward to seeing the video and running in Arizona - Go Team Chasqui!

Rep Team Chasqui

Quick little item. Those who have just completed the Ragnar Relay Las Vegas, as well as a few out there who ran the '09 Wastach Back. You all are entitled to recieve an official Team Chasqui window sticker. Represent you team and throw a sticker on the car. Let everyone know who you "run" with. Let 'em know you're a Chasqui. Put your name and address in a comment to this post. Or, if your a little paranoid to do that, let me know, or JB, and we will see you get a sticker.

Ragnar LV - Belinda

I was so excited to run this race and be part of Team Chasqui, now after the race, I am so glad I ran this race and am part of Team Chasqui.

Van 1 was incredibly AWESOME. I had so much fun right from the beginning, when the guys sat up in the front with the comfort of the A/C and Angel and I opted to sit in the back. I felt we became instant friends and I hope that we will see each other soon - maybe meet up for lunch (what do you think Angel?) Also meeting Aaron was cool - watching him slam his water to the pavement, his dancing mid run - very entertaining. Jordan and McKay were very supportive giving and taking my water at each stop. Nick didn't say much except for the one time that he compared me to another girl telling me that she didn't have hips and I did.

Here goes my report:

Leg 1: 4.5 miles, easy
I must say that I was a bit anxious to be runner one and start off, not knowing what to expect. Happy that so far I have not seen any pictures of my starting line toe touch and hoping Weintzy did not get it on film. Just leave it on the editing room floor if you did Weintzy! Jordan - warned me right before not to start off too fats. After the count down everyone just shot out of there, leaving me in the dust. I was getting really upset because my fear was being last at the exchange on the first leg. Well, I finished with only one person behind me but at least I wasn't last. The heat was a bit hard on me, guess that's what I get for always running in the dark. Then as I was in the port-a-potty and still had my ipod going, I hear in my headphones "Hi, this is Lance Armstrong. Congratulations for reaching a personal best." I was so excited! I had been waiting for that. I beat my best mile and set a new record of 8:24. Now, I know that's probably the slowest most of you ran all weekend, but I was happy!

Leg 13: 5.7, hard (and hard it was)

I was resting in the back of the truck so I did not see the drive in to the Callville Bay Parking lot. I heard a few mumblings about it but nothing too bad until Weintzy drives up and says something like "Man, I feel bad for whoever has to run out of here." So, I got myself geared up. I get to the exchange waiting for Morgan to come in and then the Ragnar worker whispers in my ear "Remember, its just a little hill." GREAT! I was determined though. I set off and actually liked how dark it was and I just felt like I was all alone except for the occasional headlamp on the other side of the road coming in. About .5 miles into it I changed my mind. I didn't want to run Ragnar anymore, I was going home. Then, up ahead I saw 2 butt lamps. I said to myself, "catch them." I kept going. When I finally passed them and could tell Jordan the next time I got water that I had passed 2 people I knew I was going to do this. I got through those 3 miles and turned left onto the other road and it was down hill from there. I felt so good. I felt like i was going fast. The weather was perfect, the moon was out. I was having so much fun. I even told a few people I was having fun. I came into that exchange and was hooked. I love Ragnar Relay!

Leg 25: 4.8, hard

I was NOT ready to run at 4:30 in the morning, heck I had only had about an hour and a half of sleep, nonetheless, Morgan comes into the exchange, in almost a blur, and I was off. It was cold, I was sure Aaron had put 20 pound weights around my ankles when I was sleeping, and I was tired. But, there again was a butt lamp and I told myself, "catch it." So I did, three of them. But it was hard. I knew this was my last leg and I have to admit, at the end, I was sad. Watching everyone else run and knowing I didn't get to anymore. I had a blast and I hope I get to do it again with you! Could someone prep my husband to stay home with the kids again?

This, as you all may know, is the slap bracelet or "baton" we used in this past Ragnar Relay. We all wore it, we all sweat on it, we passed it one to another. JB and I get together at the end of each Ragnar and decide who gets the honor of receiving the "baton" to keep. JB and I think this is pretty special, I hope you all agree. This years recipient is Chasqui Trent. This was pretty unanimous. It didn't take us long to decide either. I'll tell you why.
Trent probalaby would have won the bracelet for the Del Sol Relay in Arizona back in February, but Chasqui Sandy ran 2 long legs while pretty much on her death bed. In Del Sol Trent tackled the legs totaling the highest milage. He did the same thing for Raganr LV, 18 some odd miles if I remember. And the guy doesn't know quit. He just runs, and runs, and runs, and then runs some more. So Trent, here's to you for your ability to Chasqui up. You deserve it. Either JB or I will get you the bracelet soon. How 'bout some love for Trent.
